We entered a new civilisation this week…Ancient Egypt. The children have absolutely loved our new topic and have even taught us bits and pieces to add to planning for next year! We have covered mummification, the Gods, King Tutankhamun and the River Nile. To ensure the understanding of the importance of the River Nile, we created our own class version. We have flooded our river’s as it would have 5000 years ago and planted our crops. We will be waiting to see how effective the Ancient Egyptian’s way of life was and whether we will have anything to harvest at the end of term. We are also coming to the end of our class story ‘Into the Forest’. We used the text from the story to create our own scripts and perform them to the class. Our year 3’s are certainly adept in theatrics and created some thoughtful and amusing performances.
